The society provides funding for groups of students to be used for activities that are in line with the purpose of the Society, i.e. benefitting the field of geography. The purpose is to facilitate activities that normally are difficult to realize within the format of regular courses. It could, for example, be field work, excursions, or invitations of external guests.
The application is targeted towards third year bachelor students and master’s students at Lund University, studying human geography or physical geography.
Applying student groups (min. three students) are to write a short application (max. 2 A4-pages) describing the content and purpose of the activity, together with a brief estimation of costs. The application should be directed to the Society's secretary: email@example.com.
Maximum amount available for each application: 10 000 Skr.
Latest day for applications: 15 March 2024.
Members of SSGS are given priority. You can become a member by filling out a form on www.ssgs.se/membership and paying the membership fee of SEK 90.
An account of the activity should be reported back to the board in connection with one of the Society´s events, or if that is not possible, in the form of a short written report.
The Torsten Hägerstrand's scholarship for current and recently graduated doctoral students will open again in autumn 2024. The scholarship comprises two grants of SEK 12 000 each, one for research within the field of human geography and one for physical geography.
